Its primary mission is to transport heavy equipment and supplies for the Marine Corps, as well as provide support for amphibious assault and expeditionary operations. The Super Stallion is a massive helicopter, with a length of approximately 99 feet and a rotor diameter of 79 feet. It has a maximum gross weight of over 73,000 pounds and can carry external loads of up to 32,000 pounds. It is powered by three turboshaft engines, giving it the ability to lift and transport heavy loads. The CH-53E can carry up to 55 fully equipped troops or 24 stretchers for medical evacuations.
