It was constructed between 1788 and 1791 under the orders of King Frederick William II of Prussia. The Brandenburg Gate features a central arch flanked by smaller pedestrian arches on each side. The Quadriga, a sculpture of a chariot drawn by four horses, crowns the gate and symbolizes victory.
